Beginner's Guide to Meditation

First step of this, sit down relax on the floor or chair. The most comfortable is better, as long as you are not in the position of falling asleep easily. If you have disadvantages, for example some pain or illness that makes you can not sit, you can lay down on mattress or bed, in Yoga tradition it is called Savasana.

The Yoga tradition of meditation is in the position Padmasana or Siddhasana, but as you are beginner sitting on the chair would be enough, cause discomfort will diverse your mind from the target of meditation.

Close your eyes. Perform deep, peaceful breathing for a few minutes. Inhale and then exhale slowly without concentration on your breathes. Let it flow naturally until you feel like you are not controlling it.
Let your attention wander to anything it wishes. Situation, feelings or thoughts will usually come to mind which pertain to the troubled area, the blocked energy channel (Chakra). Simply observe them and explore how the body feels. Do not try to stop them!
Minds of the beginner is like a boy taking his first step on this earth. They want to go around, looking for a new spot to explore, interesting things to touch, celebrating their new ability, to walk .. to run. Escort them but do not limit their movement, cause they will do the opposite, they will struggle to escape.

After a while your mind will have it enough, they will stop by themselves.
If tears come, let them .. just cry until you have it enough.
After you have let go all the blockages, all the stresses, the pains and diversions of the mind; Continue your meditation, please..

This can be accomplished in five minutes to unlimited, depends on your blockages, your stress level, or your other situation. Failed to achieve the state of calmness in first try, don't give up, do it again in the next day. Maybe there is so much blockages in your mind that needs more time to clean it.

After that, continue with your mission of this meditation.
If you are looking for peace of mind, you already there.
